Volt to be called Electra in UK

Vauxhall Electra

Vauxhall Electra

The Chevy Volt is due out in North America in the later part of 2010 making its model year debut as a 2011.  Shorty there after the Volt will get some wings and fly over to other markets.  Australia is already scheduled and Europe is planned too.  The Volt will also be sold in the UK.  The main problem with selling the Volt overseas is that Chevy doesn’t have the greatest brand recognition in other parts of the world.

GM will probably use the brands it has aquired that already have recognition in their respective areas.  In the UK the brand will probably be Vauxhall, they already sell Opels in the UK for GM.  And back in June Vauxhall filed a trademark application back in June for the Vauxhall Electra.
