New Transformers 2 trailer leaked

The new Transformers movie: Revenge of the Fallen stars a plethora of GM vehicles. We all saw the new Camaro making it’s debut as Bumblebee in the first movie. In the new movie the Volt will make an appearance as an autobot named Jolt. Here’s the trailer:

Volt at Chicago Auto Show

Reports are that GM is going to show up at the Chicago Auto Show with their line up from the new Transformers movie. We already know that the Volt will appear in the movie, as well as the new Camaro and many other GM vehicles.

Jolt the Volt

It’s been known for some time now that the Volt will appear (along with the Camaro SS and the new Corvette) in the new Transformers movie. Other than this bit of knowledge little is known about the eco cars’ role in the movie. Until now:

Jolt the Volt

The car appears to be blue rather than purple (in some footage we’ve seen the Volt appeared to be purple). His name is going to be the ultra corny Jolt, my guess is that GM’s marketing team got a hold of Micheal Bay and told him this is the name is has to be. Jolt sounds a lot like Volt so that’ll be good for name recognition when the Volt goes on sale. I also fully expect someone to make an offhanded comment about the awesomeness of Jolt in the movie.

From the packaging it also looks like Jolt will be an autobot. This part also makes sense from GM’s perspective. You wouldn’t want the car that you believe that’ll save your company to be one of the bad guys in a huge block buster movie.

Volt to be featured in new Transformers Film

With the success of the last Transformers film it seems that GM has decided to let Bay not only use the Camaro SS concept (for bumblebee) but he’ll get to use the new Volt as well. The car used for filming will almost certainly not be the actual Volt, it will probably be a cobalt or something similar in size with the Volt’s body panels replacing the panels of the vehicle used. Still it gives us a good look at what the Volt will look like when released.
