GM not happy with leaked photos

GM is looking into the set of photos that were released on Monday and published on a number of websites. The photos of GMs new Volt, the battery powered car that they hope will be a big seller, were not supposed to be available to the public until the celebration of GMs 100 year anniversary.

“We’re looking into the situation,” GM spokesman Terry Rhadigan said. He declined to say what GM thinks led to the mishap, but he said the company doesn’t believe its computer system was hacked at this point.

The Volt is a cornerstone product in the auto maker’s attempt to compete in the heated fuel-economy race taking place in the global auto industry.

Mr. Rhadigan declined to say when exactly the pictures — which feature various angles of the car and executives standing next to it — were to be released. He indicated the premature publication is disappointing to the company, but said “it’s just one of those things that happen.”

GM has already sent out emails to many sites asking that the photos be taken down. At this point though, with so many places having the pictures up can they really make a difference?

The production Volt appears to have the same profile and stance as the concept.

A considerable amount of money is going into bringing this car to market quickly, they won’t skimp on design for either the exterior or the interior.
