Nissan’s Land Glider electric vehicle tilts from side to side, allowing the car, still an experimental concept model, to sway and swerve, almost like a motorcycle.Nissan Motor Co. project design director Takashi Nakjima says Land Glider is designed to be a “personal city commuter.” The Land Glider has sensors to calculate speed and level of lean required for corners, and can maneuver through narrow streets and fit into tight parking spaces, according to Yokohama-based Nissan.

Next month the frankfurt autoshow takes place on BMWs home turf so they want to make the biggest news. The concept they’ll debut, call Vision EfficientDynamics, is a 356 horsepower diesel electric hybrid that can do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and will get 75 miles to the gallon.

Here’s a video of it:

The thing screams Tron light cycle to me, I just want to know how much it’ll cost.

A little smaller than the current Chrysler 300, this concept vehicle is the likely successor to the Seabring. The theme for the 200C is connectivity. The 200C has connections for just about everything you can think of.

“What makes the Chrysler 200C EV concept even more meaningful is the use of technology that will make traveling and managing one’s life an absolute pleasure,” Klegon added. “The 200C EV concept is a connectivity portal to the world outside, creating a rewarding relationship between driver and automobile. The result is a driving experience that celebrates the human instinct to be connected to our world.”

The design of the 200C is obviously more organic than the straight lines that cut through the air on the Chrysler 300. The the curved body allows for better aerodynamic flow over the car resulting in better gas mileage or longer battery life.

Based on a shortened version (LY platform?) of the current rear wheel drive chrysler vehicles, the 200C provides a fun, powerful, and sporty ride. The electric drive system similar to that in the Jeep EV and Chrysler EV allows the 200C to drive 40 silent miles on electric power alone. After that a small gasoline engine starts up to provide extended range.

Next Tuesday Chrysler has announced that it will unveil an extended range electric car. The car will reportedly get 40 miles out of a battery charge with a small gas engine to power an electric generator to recharge the batteries (sound familiar?).

Details on when the vehicle will be launched, and it’s future in general are still uncertain. While GM has narrowed the date for the Volt to November of 2010 (as a 2011 model), Chrysler hasn’t even announced who the battery supplier will be. Many things are still up in the air surrounding Chrysler’s endeavor into the market.

Chrylser is hoping that it’s dealers will get a small jolt of energy from the announcement. It also hopes this car can help turn around it’s public image much like GM does.

Source: WSJ

I’d say that this is joint technology with GM. Chrysler doesn’t have to worry about who will supply the batteries since GM will already have made that decision. Chrysler and GM have also worked jointly on the two mode hybrid SUVs, the cylinder deactivation system present in their V8 engines, and the new phoenix V6 engine with the same cylinder deactivation. It’s not much of a stretch to hear that Chrysler is also going to be selling an electric car.
