Car and Driver review the Volt
Summary:
The guys over at Car and Driver give us their opinion on the new Volt. They seem cautiously optimistic about the new car. They noted that the styling will remain almost exactly the same as what was unveiled to use just a few weeks ago. They also have some opinions on the overall look:
Frankly, we think it comes across pretty awful in pictures, but we can attest that it appears well proportioned and convincingly cool in person: the details indeed carry the day.
The new numbers for range on the ICE is 250 to 300 miles, giving it a total range of 290 – 340 miles with the batteries. GM expects the cost to be in the mid 30s, though it’s unclear if that cost is before or after then $7,500 tax credit for purchasing the Volt. Production of the Volt is intended to be flexible, they don’t know if it’ll generate tens of thousands of sales per year or hundreds of thousands of sales per year, so the facility is set up to handle either scenario or anything inbetween.
